About

Gillian Travell is a contemporary artist working full time from her Matthews, NC studio.

Finding influence in nature and fairy tales, Gillian's intriguing oil paintings have been described as mysterious, romantic and ethereal. Her work is occasionally disquieting, however, with use of color and soft brush strokes, she evokes a feeling of tranquility in each piece.

Currently, Gillian is working on an oil painting series called "Wisewomen Ways", in which she interprets the role of older women in our society, who are often overlooked as a source of strength and guidance.
